In 1959, Ron Bowman quit his job as a reporter and bought a 150cc Lambretta scooter intending to ride from Thorold all the way to South America. Three weeks before the trip, he was utterly smitten by a beautiful young woman. The farther south he rode, the more he began to feel that he had made a horrible mistake and had left the woman of his dreams behind. He finally he asked her fly to Mexico City, marry him, and continue on to South America.

The Pelham Historical Society is pleased to announce an expansion to its online collection. This year we were again able to hire Sean Lewis under the Canada Summer Jobs Program of the Federal Government, and we decided to put some of the early issues of the Pelham District High School magazine, the Pnyx, on line. The school was started in Fenwick in 1922 as a continuation school with eight students, and became a high school in 1949.

Story

The Pelham Library announced today that Stephanie Stowe, Library CEO and Director since 2001, has advised the Board of Directors of her intention to retire.

Stephanie originally joined the Pelham Public Library from Sault Ste Marie and has been instrumental in expanding the book collections available to residents and students at the Fonthill and Maple Acre branches. The various children’s and seniors' programs offered through the library also grew under Stephanie’s management.
