As one way to provide the best selection of materials for your library, the Pelham Public Library invites you to become a Library Lover.  Below is one of a number of ways to express your love and enjoy the privileges of being a Library Lover.

Three Great Reasons to Become a Library Lover

The Maple Acre branch of the Pelham Public Library was closed temporarily for renovations but has reopened during its regular hours

Are you passionate about books and libraries? The Pelham Public Library invites residents of Pelham to consider applying to become a board member.

A board member is:

The Town of Pelham Public Library invites applications from qualified applicants for the position of Circulation Library Assistant. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks that assist in providing library services to the community, with an emphasis on circulation and information duties. This is a six-month contract position.

Drop by this Wednesday, August 27 between 10:30 - 4:30 to wish Fran a wonderful retirement after ten years of service to the community.

Those of you who have been in the Library recently--and many of you have since we have been unusually busy all summer--will have noticed a strong smell of paint in the air. Sorry about that, but the Festival Room, in which all of our more popular events take place, was in need of freshening up. By the time this column appears on August 21st, the paint smell will be a faint memory (I hope) so come in to admire the result and, at the same time, take the opportunity to buy some books at our GIANT BOOK SALE which will be in full swing until 5PM on the 23rd.

When this column appears in the Pelham News it will be August 7th and almost the last day of the summer children's programs. There will be one segment of Mad Science, namely Lights, Colour, Action, on August 12th and the end of the Summer Reading Club that same week. The Reading Club BBQ--children who signed up for the Club will get a free hot dog or hamburger and a drink--will be at noon on Friday August 15th. The only other event, which is open to both children and adults/seniors, is the Ice Cream Social and involves making ice cream in a baggie and then consuming the result. Delicious!

Summerfest has come and gone with lots of fun for everyone. The next event to look forward to is Civic Holiday weekend. The Library will be closed as usual on the holiday Monday, the 4th of August. Before the next time this column comes out there will be two Fridays with TGIF Crafting Drop-ins (25th July and 1st August at 1-3:30PM $2 No pre-registration needed) and one Gadget Clinic on July 26th from 12:30 to 3:30 Please register, pay ahead ($5 per half-hour) and outline the problem you are having with your device.
